Read more About the Author Wynn Kapit graduated in 1955 from the University of Miami, Florida with honors in Business Administration and Law. He then attended Art Center School in Los Angeles and worked in New York as a graphic designer and advertising art director from 1960-66. He moved to California to pursue a painting career and was given a one-man show at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco in 1968. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley and received a Masters in Painting and worked as a portraitist and teacher of figure drawing. While taking a class in human anatomy at San Francisco City College, he discovered a way to effectively learn the subject by coloring in drawings, diagrams and names. The teacher of the course, Lawrence Elson, Ph.D. agreed to help him produce a coloring book. Elson wrote and Kapit designed and illustrated The Anatomy Coloring Book, which was published in 1977 and has been a widely-translated bestseller ever since. The Physiology Coloring Book was published in 1987, with the assistance of two professors from Berkeley: Robert Macey and Esmail Meisami. The Geography Coloring Book was published in 1991; Kapit drew the maps and wrote the text. The Anatomy Coloring Book was published in a second edition in 1993, and second editions of Geography and Physiology Coloring Books will be published in 1997. Robert Macey is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a Professor of Physiology and Chair of the Department of Physiology-Anatomy at Berkeley. Dr. Macey has written extensive research articles and reviews on membrane transport as well as a successful text on human physiology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Esmail Meisami is a professor in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Illinois. He has authored and edited books on biology, physiology, human growth and development, and developmental neurobiology and has written numerous research papers on sensory systems and hormones in brain development. He received his Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of California at Berkeley. Read more

The Physiology Coloring Book (2nd Edition) by Wynn Kapit,Robert I. Macey,Esmail Meisami

The Physiology Coloring Book (2nd Edition) by Wynn Kapit,Robert I. Macey,Esmail Meisami is Ordered on my Prime account and arrived one day early. Nice book with a cool concept. Its not like a typical anatomy or physiology coloring book that your probably thinking about. This is an intro level text book. However, rather than the typical text reference to a picture, this book is written with instructions for the student to color the diagrams themselves to reinforce the learning. Also, the diagrams aren't the typical diagrams that you see in text books. These pictures and diagrams are drawn specifically for the text. For example, as the text is describing something like the Flight or Fight response, the student is coloring a picture per text instruction showing the whole response including the endocrine system along with the autonomic nervous system. And the drawing instructions included in the text have you color it in a beginning to end fashion of the response cycle. I think its a pretty cool book. It is an intro level text however. So if your an advanced student in premed or something like that, its probably to basic for you.

The Physiology Coloring Book (2nd Edition) by Wynn Kapit,Robert I. Macey,Esmail Meisami is In NP school, it helped me really understand how the cells and organs work at the metabolic level, and decreased my anxiety . This provides a massive amt. of information. I started coloring a page a day when I started in the program. Explanations on the opposite page give clear concise information. I really enjoyed learning this way. If you wait until you are in Patho it may be too much information to process quickly. I found using colored pens worked best. The pages are thin and the things you color can be very tiny.

The Physiology Coloring Book (2nd Edition) by Wynn Kapit,Robert I. Macey,Esmail Meisami is I used an earlier edition of this coloring book when I was in nursing school many years ago. It was so helpful. In fact, there are some pages that I still remember after all of these years! One of the great things about this coloring book is that it uses color and movement to reinforce the topic on the page. You spend more time with the topic because it takes time to color it.This book is an absolute must-have for anyone going into an anatomy-physiology class. It also makes a great gift for new graduates that are planning on pursuing an career in health care!

The Physiology Coloring Book (2nd Edition) by Wynn Kapit,Robert I. Macey,Esmail Meisami is Not exactly what I was looking for or expecting, but the information packed into the pages is helpful. The pictures are a bit too small for me to really see detail or color, and they appear blurry so it can be hard to look at. I might keep it just for the information on the regular pages.
