Going through each page, I feel as though she is sitting right next to me, teaching me all her secrets and not holding anything back. This is going to be the perfect go-to reference for any artist at any stage.” â€"ALLI KOCH, artist and author of How to Draw Modern Florals “Peggy helps lay to rest the myth that in art and drawing, some can and some can’t, and helps show that art is for those who will. If you’ve bought this book, then congratulations; not only can you draw, you will draw, and I bet you’re going to find a lot of joy in the process.” â€"DYLAN MIERZWINSKI, illustrator and educator “There’s an ease to Peggy’s teaching style that invites the artist within to explore and grow. Peggy Dean's Guide to Nature Drawing and Watercolor: Learn to Sketch, Ink, and Paint Flowers, Plants, Trees, and Animals by Peggy Dean is This book is beautiful! This is my 3rd Peggy Dean book and Lettering in the Whimsical Woodlands and Botanical Line Drawing are also wonderful. Those two books got me started with drawing and have helped me improve a lot. I literally couldn't even draw a stick figure before I got these books. The Introduction in Nature Drawing & Watercolor is incredibly honest and really made me think about why creating is important to me. Also, it made me think about my perfectionism and how that takes away some of the joy of drawing or painting. There is a ton of content to help you learn what you need to get started. It includes information about pens, paints, paper and how to put it all together. There are descriptions of different plants, flowers and animals and simple to understand steps to get you started drawing or water coloring. This book would be good for a beginner or experienced artist. If I could give this book 10 stars, I definitely would!

Peggy Dean's Guide to Nature Drawing and Watercolor: Learn to Sketch, Ink, and Paint Flowers, Plants, Trees, and Animals by Peggy Dean is YAY, I've been waiting for this book for a few months now, and magically it arrived from Amazon the day it was officially released. I *highly* recommend this book. If you can't draw, you're in really good company. If you can draw, get ready for your skills to level up. Peggy skips past the whole I-can't-draw creativity hangup and dives into the simple marks and strokes that compose art. Her energy is infectious, and her appreciation for the beauties of nature are well reflected in this amazingly comprehensive guide. I pre-ordered this book after drawing through her Botanical Line Drawing book; I picked it up to see if I could learn how to draw simple flowers and ended up learning so much and getting low-key addicted to line drawing/watercolor and nature art. The biggest difference between this and her other drawing books is, to me, that she dialogues through the learning process with you as you go. That's been so great for me, as a learner who appreciates hearing or reading descriptions - even though I know this is al visuals, I appreciate how she explains herself from start to finish. Beyond that, though, I love how she visually breaks steps into simple marks, as each new flower or plant becomes progressively more complex in a way that makes your learning and growth feel sequenced and structured. So, tl;dr: I'm delighted by this book, but more so by the art I get to create as a result of Peggy Dean's creativity, artistry, and talent. If you want to draw, illustrate, or paint nature, buy this :)

Peggy Dean's Guide to Nature Drawing and Watercolor: Learn to Sketch, Ink, and Paint Flowers, Plants, Trees, and Animals by Peggy Dean is I have been following Peggy for a few years now and she was one of the first people that I followed when I really wanted to expand my hand lettering, drawing and sketching. Her approach to design and instruction is just pure joy-- simple, fun, and beautiful. I have almost all of her books and this one is just [ w o w ]Its laid out so beautifully and the amount of detailed instruction is astounding. I love how there are just enough visual breakdowns to give you an idea of what to do but also let's your imagination kind of take over. Something I love about Peggy's books. There are so many beautiful florals and fauna to sketch and paint-- and fun facts along with them!! The explanations are like having her right next to you---Way to go Peggy--- this book is astoundingly beautiful!! I cant wait to bring it to my 2nd grade classroom so my students can see it --- we are learning about the rainforest right now!!!Oh and I was not paid to do this review!!
