Divided into five sections, the book begins with her manifesto on simplicity and the aspects of design used to achieve it…she presents several houses as case studies, displaying the power of these principles in action and emphasizing the importance of craftsmanship in design…” â€"Editor at Large“…guaranteed to inspire just about every corner of your life. Seeing the luxurious restraint of a room designed by Nancy Braithwaite is enough to make even a maximalist consider paring down. It’s no wonder her first book is one the design world has been breathlessly awaiting for years. Readers can delve deep into her guiding principles of simplicity with a particular focus on craftsmanship in design, or just flip through the images and drool.” â€"One King’s Lane  “…Simplicity features page after glorious page of her stunning work, with a diverse showcase of homesâ€" classic to contemporaryâ€"beautifully photographed.“ â€"Southern Seasons   “Required for fall reading” â€"Veranda “…a stunning assemblage of rooms created with extraordinary form, color and shape.” â€"Papercity“The 296-page book is filled to the brim with breathtaking images of both interior and exterior spaces, but it also provides a thought-provoking narrative that helps readers understand the principles that work together to pack a powerful visual punch…this is a book that will not only look beautiful on the coffee table but also will provide hours of serious contemplation…” â€"Indulge Magazine“She’s a minimalist designer, but Nancy’s work is far from sterile. Her iconic and distinctive taste is beautifully mapped out on 295 pages with peeks and insights into her rules of design and architecture. We love that dotted cover too.” â€"Southern Living   “Positively elegant in every way” â€"Bask“The 296-page book is filled to the brim with breathtaking images of both interior and exterior spaces, but it also provides a thought-provoking narrative that helps readers understand the principles that work together to pack a powerful visual punch… this is a book that will not only look beautiful on the coffee table but also will provide hours of serious contemplation about architecture and composition, as well as color, pattern and texture and the incorporation of art and crafts.” â€"Star-Telegram Read more About the Author Nancy Braithwaite started her acclaimed Atlanta interior design firm in 1969. Nancy Braithwaite: Simplicity by Nancy Braithwaite,Dara Caponigro

Nancy Braithwaite: Simplicity by Nancy Braithwaite,Dara Caponigro is I haven’t gotten to reading the book yet just browsed through it & the pictures are nice. But what really bothers me is that the outer paper cover is much smaller than the actual book itself... I don’t know if it’s defective or not

Nancy Braithwaite: Simplicity by Nancy Braithwaite,Dara Caponigro is I have mixed feelings about this book. The quality of the book itself - its size, the photography, the typeface, etc. - is all beautiful. I deduct a small amount due to the font - although the typeface is nice, the weight of the font is frequently very light making it more difficult to read in certain lighting.I purchased the book hopeful that I might find some ideas for my living and dining rooms. While I have very colorful rooms in my house, these two are more simple, understated and elegant. I was disappointed that while the photography was beautiful, the rooms themselves (as other reviewers have noted) are very austere. They have a museum feel to them, as if no one actually lives there or would want to mess them up. The house featured as contemporary feels cold like an office building, not a welcoming family vacation home. There was nothing from this book that I can apply to my own house, even while I can admire the quality of the photography and be impressed by some of the rooms.I also found the author herself a bit condescending. The feeling I have is that one can't possibly do a decent job decorating their house without the skilled eye of a decorator, top class painters, and antique experts to assist. While having those experts available can certainly help, many of us are not wealthy and, even though not skilled as a decorator, I think I do pretty well. Even when reading her thoughts on collecting, the value in collecting seems to be more monetary or whether the artist you purchase eventually becomes well known. Simply enjoying the collection seems to come second.I read the book from cover to cover and greatly enjoyed looking at the photos, but at the end I felt the book was cold and nothing I could apply to my own home.

Nancy Braithwaite: Simplicity by Nancy Braithwaite,Dara Caponigro is This is such a beautiful book -- everything about it, cover to cover, is of such fine quality -- and Nancy Braithwaite is an extraordinary designer. I can't recommend this enough . . .
