Learn to Burn: A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started in Pyrography (Fox Chapel Publishing) Easily Create Beautiful Art & Gifts with 14 Step-by-Step Projects, How-to Photos, and 50 Bonus Patterns by Simon Easton is I have several books on pyrography, but this gives a different perspective to the traditional designs. I would not consider this a beginners books since it focuses on variable temperature burners with different tips (not your standard hobby store kit), but it is good for people who have invested in more sophisticated burners and want to learn how to use them. He goes over the different tips and the effects that can be achieved with each and suggests some practice pieces before launching into projects. The book includes patterns in the back, and I am especially happy about the different font alphabets he includes.

Learn to Burn: A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started in Pyrography (Fox Chapel Publishing) Easily Create Beautiful Art & Gifts with 14 Step-by-Step Projects, How-to Photos, and 50 Bonus Patterns by Simon Easton is I was expecting a more comprehensive explanation of woodburning. Either it's super simple, or this book just doesn't cover what it should.Only about 2-3 pages at the beginning actually discuss the mechanics, the rest are just kitchy proposed projects. Not really about how to make art. Buy a ready made wooden object and burn a stencil on it! The worst part is that the instructions for each project are essentially the same: draw the design, move it over using transfer paper, do the outline, then shade. This book is a waste of money. You could probably find all the information contained in this book in an internet blog post for free.

Learn to Burn: A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started in Pyrography (Fox Chapel Publishing) Easily Create Beautiful Art & Gifts with 14 Step-by-Step Projects, How-to Photos, and 50 Bonus Patterns by Simon Easton is I bought this along with a mid level wood burning kit for my wife and I. The book has a decent amount of information on the use of different type tips for different applications. While it does not explain every use for every possible tip you might get in a kit it does cover the common ones and that is what you need.Has a good section on practicing different effects from lines to shading to stippling and them moves on into practice projects. Nice that it includes the designs so she can just print them out and trace them and compare her outcome to those in the book.Overall it was worth the price and I cannot say that about half of the books I have purchased...they either are too simple or they are too advanced and the beginner is lost. But this is a nice book to help get started.

Learn to Burn: A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started in Pyrography (Fox Chapel Publishing) Easily Create Beautiful Art & Gifts with 14 Step-by-Step Projects, How-to Photos, and 50 Bonus Patterns by Simon Easton is This really is just a book of all the wood products you can buy at your local art or craft store, very little information about technique and such. Just project after project. I was hoping for more technique and effect type training.
