Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon

Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon is While I am a longtime Austin Kleon fan, and this book more than delivers on the promise of STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST and SHOW YOUR WORK, it's something else as well. Beyond the brilliant and practical advice for maintaining creativity, it's a guide for keeping your focus and staying centered in a world that seems increasingly out of balance. It arrives not a moment too soon.

Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon is Austin Kleon's "Keep Going" is filled with wisdom and plain good advice. From great quotes, to blackout poetry, to drawings, every new page has some great little treat waiting for you to discover. I look forward to re-reading this book, especially during those times when progress seems out of reach, when it seems as though there is no way forward. Then I will take this book down off of the shelf, remember to forgive myself, take a walk, and keep going.

Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon is I wasn't a fan of the author's other works. They seemed written for excessively fast, headed for burnout, 20-somethings and I just couldn't connect with the message. With this book, the author takes a different approach - slowing down to keep going. If you appreciate disconnecting from the digital world to reconnect with the physical world, then this might be a good book for you. It is a short read and is heavy on graphics (as per the author's style), but that just makes it easy to read over and over again.

Keep Going: 10 Ways to Stay Creative in Good Times and Bad by Austin Kleon is Here is a handy compilation of quotes, anecdotes and guidance condensed from the author's experience, observation and research. The aim is to spur the creative individual on to perseverance and sustainability in their practice.Approximately half of the book consists of full page illustrations (mostly in the form of blackout poetry) as well as quotes (in call out boxes and interspersed liberally throughout the writing). One might consider this a drawback; however, the actual words-to-read are fairly succinct and are rarely wasted. Here you will find a fine blend of realistic and optimistic; practical and ideal. Surely some parts felt cliché but I strongly suspect that if I were to reread this book in 3 months or next year or whenever (which I bet I will!) those formerly cliché bits will present as profound. I can ignore platitudes whilst mining for gems.By the way- there is certainly a Creative Pep Talk Podcast vibe to this joint- a fair amount of philosophy as well as some great book recommendations. Its simply not as- peppy. And that’s ok.Yes, I do recommend it.Golly, you might even buy two of them and use the verso/recto pages as wallpaper to surround yourself with good advice, ideals and encouragement.
