Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young: The Wild, Definitive Saga of Rock's Greatest Supergroup by David Browne is Fun to read. The editing is sloppy. George W. Bush was not president when the first Gulf War began. The author lists Carry On as a new song on the 1974 tour. He means Carry Me. I just skimmed it and saw these errors. To the author's credit, he doesn't slobber over his subjects.

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young: The Wild, Definitive Saga of Rock's Greatest Supergroup by David Browne is This biography offers up the stories you know and a few you don’t. Interestingly, David Browne hints that the clarity and delicate balance that was CSN at the beginning was damaged and forever changed, for the negative, after Neil Young infiltrated the group. I’d always thought just the opposite. Browne offers up the way Young essentially sewed divisions among the three and effectively neutered Stephen Stills as the trio's primary instrumentalist, as he'd been on the first album. Once damaged, CSN could never seem to recapture that initial magic. Neil was the protagonist and the negative difference maker. A must read and an interesting reverse take on the role Neil Young had on CSN and what was the most promising new musical sound of the late 60’s and early 70’s.

It exposes CSN&Y egos, triumphs, tragedies, and wild times together. The authors well researched book takes you from the 60’s until the present. Most rock biographies are either puff pieces or hatchet jobs. This is neither. This book shows you four individual who’s music lives on.
